Day 01 - Registration and briefing


My 14day experience as Buddhist nun
I participated in the 3rd Theravada Samaneri Novitiate Programme from 11th to 24th June 2018, hosted by Subang Jaya Buddhist Association, Selangor, Malaysia. Pursuing a Path to Inner Peace in memory of late chief venerable K.SRI DHAMMANANDA 100 years. Honouring his contribution to the development of Buddhism in Malaysia.

Day 01 (11.06.2018) Registration, check in and briefing
09.00am – 05.00pm Registration counter opens for check in
06.00pm – 08.00pm Light meal and refreshment
08.00pm – 10.00pm Assemble at the Shrine Hall. Homage to the Buddha, taking refuge in the Triple Gem and observation of the Five Precepts. Welcome speech by Ven. Sumangala Bhikkhuni. Briefing on objectives of 3rd TSNP programme schedule, vihara rules and practices. 


























Day 02 (12.06.2018) Training and Rehearsal
05.00am – Morning call
05.30am – Homage, taking refuge in the Triple Gem and of the Five Precepts
06.45am – Queue up for food collection
07.15am – Food contemplation, breakfast and cleaning up
08.15am – Assemble at the Shrine Hall for a tour of the Vihara
09.00am – Introduction of teachers & sharing inspirational path to renunciation
10.45am – Queue up for food collection
11.15am – Lunch Dana, food contemplation and cleaning up
01.00pm – Duty and responsibility – Living in a community of Upasika/Sangha
02.00pm > 03.45pm. What is Pali and Pali Tipitaka
04.00pm – The Buddha Dhamma and the Buddhist Traditions
05.30pm – Tea break and personal chores
06.30pm > 08pm Preparation: Sutta recital, reflection, forgiveness & meditation
08.15pm > 10pm Dhamma talk: The significance of Going Forth (Pabbajja) and Liberation

Day 03 (13.06.2018) Training and Rehearsal
05.00am – Morning call
05.30am – Group Meditation
06.45am – Queue up for food collection
07.15am – Food contemplation and breakfast. Cleaning up and upkeep vihara
09.00am > 10.30am Anapanasati Medition
10.45am – Queue up for food collection
11.15am – Lunch Dana, food contemplation and cleaning up
01.00pm – Briefing on the Shaving Ceremony and Pabbajja Ceremony. Recital of Pali Verses for Shaving and Pabbajja Request
03.30pm – Demo and self-practice on how to wear and handle the Pabbajja brown robes respectfully
05.30pm – Tea break and personal chores
06.30pm > 07.45pm Group chanting, reflection, forgiveness and meditation
08.15pm > 10pm Dhamma talk: The contribution of Bhikkhuni Sangha & Upasika (Female Laity): Past and present

Day 04 (14.06.2018) Training and Rehearsal
05.00am – Morning call
05.30am – Group Meditation
06.45am – Queue up for food collection
07.15am – Food contemplation and breakfast. Cleaning up and upkeep vihara
09.00am > 10.30am Contemplation of Body: Four Postures
10.45am – Queue up for food collection
11.15am – Lunch Dana, food contemplation and cleaning up
01.00pm – Demo on how to use and handle alms bowl & contemplation of alms
03.30pm – Pali Verses practice for Shaving and Going Forth (Pabbajja) ceremony. (Group rehearsal, gratitude to parents, Pabbajja Request and Ten Precepts). Self-practice on wearing and folding the robe and etc.
05.30pm – Tea break and personal chores
06.30pm > 08.00pm Group chanting, reflection, forgiveness and meditation
08.15pm > 10pm Dhamma talk: Let Go and Let’s Grow!
